942227: You may receive duplicate Out of Office messages in Outlook 2003 after your mailbox is migrated to Exchange Server 2007

You couldn’t make this up!  We are seeing this mainly with Blackberry users and Outlook 2003 … gets even better!

“..at the present time RIM do not support Exchange 2007 SP1 for use with BlackBerry Enterprise Server software”

Remind me, how long has Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1 been out?

942227: You may receive duplicate Out of Office messages in Outlook 2003 after your mailbox is migrated to Exchange Server 2007

SYMPTOMS
Your mailbox is migrated from Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or from Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. After this occurs, you may receive duplicate Out of Office messages. This issue occurs when you use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 as the e-mail client.

CAUSE
This issue occurs because Outlook 2003 changes the PR_OOF_STATE property or the LegacyReplyTemplate property before the Exchange 2007 Out of Office Assistant can process the change. Because this change is never processed, the client produces a duplicate Out of Office message.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1.

944752: Exchange 2007 managed code services do not start after you install an update rollup for Exchange 2007

I had this problem before with forefront (http://blogs.flaphead.dns2go.com/archive/2007/08/17/forefront-for-exchange.aspx) and I thought it was me.

Looks like it wasn’t! .. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944752/

This problem occurs because the affected computer cannot reach the following Microsoft Web site:

http://crl.microsoft.com/pki/crl/products/CSPCA.crl
This problem occurs because of the following behavior:

  • When the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 loads a managed assembly, the managed assembly calls the CryptoAPI function to verify the Authenticode signature on the assembly files to generate publisher evidence for the managed assembly.
  • The CryptoAPI function checks a Certificate Revocation List (CRL) that is available at http://crl.microsoft.com. This action requires an Internet connection.
  • If the Internet connection is blocked, the outgoing HTTP requests may be dropped. Therefore, an error message is not returned. This problem may also occur if the computer cannot resolve http://crl.microsoft.com. This long delay causes the CRL check to time out.
  • The Service Control Manager (SCM) determines that the service is taking too long to start and that the service has exceeded the maximum service start time. Therefore, the SCM reports the error message, and the Exchange managed code services are not started.

946138: Issues that are fixed in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1: Revision 2.3

I know I have covered this off, but just check it out again and found that this update had snuck in!  Maybe we will get the full details ..eventually!

This service pack also fixes the following issues.

Note These fixes were not previously released in a rollup package.

The US Navy will astound the world tomorrow by test-firing a radical new weapon system at an unprecedented power level. The new piece of war-tech on trial is that old sci-fi favourite, an electromagnetic railgun.

The designers hope in future to get the technology up to 64 megajoule muzzle-energy levels, able to shoot hypervelocity projectiles at a blistering Mach 7 and strike targets two hundred miles away – still going at Mach 5 – with pinpoint precision.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Microsoft Corp. made an unsolicited $44.6 billion cash and stock bid for Yahoo on Friday, a deal that could shake up the competitive and lucrative market for Internet search.
