HP BladeSystem Matrix and Microsoft #Exchange Server 2010

#Exchange2010 #HP

This looks interesting … http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/getdocument.aspx?docname=4AA2-0689ENW.pdf

This white paper provides a brief introduction to the HP BladeSystem Matrix with a focus on the HP Insight Dynamics infrastructure orchestration capability. The paper also discusses Microsoft’s new email platform Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (Exchange) and looks at some investments that have been made around deployment flexibility and high availability. The core theme of this white paper is how the convergence of the Matrix service-driven application deployment model facilitates a whole new paradigm for Exchange application deployment. A model designed around Exchange building-blocks and standardized tiers of service based on the HP Exchange tiered solutions program and service framework definitions. This approach enables companies to realize the benefit of the HP BladeSystem Matrix architecture, while further realizing cost benefits through service template standardization for Exchange.

Forefront Protection 2010 for #Exchange Deployment and Performance

This is a good use of 20 mins .. I quite like the format too.  Not 100% sure that this is exchange version specific.  Dunno if you need to have FPE installed on an Exchange 2010 server.

Disk2vhd v1.4

How funky is this

Source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-nz/sysinternals/ee656415%28en-us%29.aspx

Disk2vhd is a utility that creates VHD (Virtual Hard Disk – Microsoft’s Virtual Machine disk format) versions of physical disks for use in Microsoft Virtual PC or Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs). The difference between Disk2vhd and other physical-to-virtual tools is that you can run Disk2vhd on a system that’s online. Disk2vhd uses Windows’ Volume Snapshot capability, introduced in Windows XP, to create consistent point-in-time snapshots of the volumes you want to include in a conversion. You can even have Disk2vhd create the VHDs on local volumes, even ones being converted (though performance is better when the VHD is on a disk different than ones being converted).

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Beta Protocol Documentation
The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Protocol technical documentation set provides detailed technical specifications for Microsoft protocols and extensions to industry-standards or other published protocols that are implemented and used in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. This allows the user to interoperate or communicate natively with Microsoft Office client and other server products.

The documentation is designed to describe each protocol in detail as it is used by the Microsoft Exchange Server. Each protocol specification documents the technical requirements, limitations, dependencies, and Microsoft-specific protocol behavior.

The documentation set includes a set of companion overview and reference documents that supplement the technical specifications with conceptual background, overviews of inter-protocol relationships and interactions, and technical reference information.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Protocol Documentation

Microsoft Exchange Server Inter-Organization Replication
Use the Inter-Organization Replication tool to replicate free and busy information and public folder content between Exchange organizations. The tool allows for the coordination of meeting, appointments, contacts, and public folder information between disjointed Exchange organizations. The tool consists of two programs: the Replication Configuration program (exscfg.exe), and the Replication service (exssrv.exe). The Replication Configuration program creates a configuration file for setting the replication frequency, logging options, folders to be replicated, and accounts to be used. The Replication service continuously updates information from one server (designated as the Publisher) to one or more Exchange servers (designated as Subscribers).

IT Compliance Management Series
The IT Compliance Management Series is intended for IT managers, professionals, and partners who must configure Microsoft products to address specific IT governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) requirements. Successful implementation of the recommendations in this series will allow organizations to shift the enforcement and management of IT GRC requirements onto underlying Microsoft technologies.

Updates to the Exchange Supportability Matrix
With the release of Exchange 2007 SP2 we provided a Supportability Matrix which outlined the supported configurations for Exchange 2000 SP3, Exchange 2003 SP2, and Exchange 2007 (RTM, SP1, and SP2).   But as many are aware, with the release of Windows Server 2008 R2 there have been a variety of questions raised about our support policies and a multitude of feedback.  Two pieces of feedback occurred numerous times –  the need to support Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the need to support Exchange 2003 against Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory servers.
